A waney edge in wood refers to a sawn timber or board edge where part of the natural, rounded surface of the tree (often with bark still attached) is left intact instead of being cut square.
Air-dried timber is wood that has been seasoned by exposure to natural air circulation, rather than by artificial means like kiln drying, until it reaches a moisture content in balance with the surrounding atmosphere.
